Job Description
CEDA is looking for Marine Advisors to work at our Fort McMurray, AB location at
Suncor Base Plant.
This position will support operations, maintenance, and projects on site by operating boats, completing deck work, and any marine labour on tailings ponds.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure vessels are operated safely and in compliance with Suncor’s policies and procedures and Transport Canada Regulations.
Execute on pond work to support Tailings Ops & MTCE
Execute on-pond work with collaboration from cross functional teams
Providing field support for the daily operation of Tailings operations
Report any defective equipment that requires repair or replacement that affects the safety and seaworthiness of the vessel.
Ensure safety equipment is inspected and kept in good working order.
Carry out routine inspections of the vessels and their equipment to ensure it is kept in proper working order.
Keep all machinery spaces clean, neat and tidy at all times.
Attend Meetings as required.
Complete training as required to meet or exceed the requirements of the job.
Able to work in all weather conditions
Complete nightshifts
Must keep all applicable certificates current.
Role Specifications:
Experience operating boats/marine fleet in an industrial environment is required
Experience working around tailings operations is an asset
60T master certificate of competency from Transport Canada is required
Valid Class 5 licence with a clean abstract
Able to provide a negative pre-employment alcohol and drug test
Able to complete a Functional Fitness Evaluation
Skills
Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Comfortable being on and around open bodies of water
Comfortable working outdoors in harsh weather conditions
You have the ability to prioritize and initiate innovative solutions
You demonstrate strong organizational and problem solving skills
You possess an uncompromising commitment to health and safety at all times
