Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Manufacturing General Laborer Job Description This role supports a leading custom casting manufacturer that specializes in architectural casting products, with a strong focus on ceiling components. As a General Laborer, you work in a production environment handling general casting tasks, using hand and power tools, and assisting in the manufacturing of high-quality casting products. You contribute to a small, well-organized team in a busy, dusty environment where attention to safety, quality, and productivity is essential. Responsibilities Perform general casting and labor duties in the production area on the day shift. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to support casting, construction, and manufacturing processes. Assist with tasks related to construction, manufacturing, or renovation activities as directed. Read and follow basic blueprints or work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately. Lift, move, and position materials and products weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the shift. Work in dusty conditions and around fiberglass materials while following all safety procedures. Support operations in mold making, cementing, and fiberglass departments as needed. Wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators or N95 masks when necessary. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and productivity. Follow all workplace policies, health and safety guidelines, and instructions from supervisors. Participate in overtime opportunities, including occasional Saturdays or extended shifts, when available. Essential Skills Experience using hand and power tools in a construction, manufacturing, or renovation environment. Previous experience working in a dusty environment. Experience working around fiberglass materials. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. High energy and the ability to work in a physically demanding role. Ability to read and follow basic blueprints or work instructions. Comfort wearing a respirator or N95 mask when required. Willingness to work in an environment with strong odors in certain departments. Reliability and punctuality for a steady day shift schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Painting experience in an industrial, construction, or manufacturing setting. Background in construction, manufacturing, or renovation work. Comfort working with cement, molds, and fiberglass materials. Openness to learning new production processes and techniques. Work Environment You work in a non-unionized manufacturing facility with approximately 30 employees, where collaboration and teamwork are highly valued. The production areas offer large, well-lit workspaces, but the environment is very dusty and includes departments where fiberglass is used and may produce strong odors. The company provides a dedicated lunch room with microwaves and holds regular social events such as BBQs, company gatherings, and Christmas parties. The role follows a day shift schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one unpaid 30-minute lunch break and one paid 15-minute break; employees typically leave 15 minutes early instead of taking a second 15-minute break. Overtime is voluntary, often available on Saturdays or at the end of the shift, and applies after 40 hours per week. Personal protective equipment is mandatory: you must wear steel-toe footwear that covers the ankle, a protective coverall over your clothing (with overalls and a laundry service provided upon permanent hire), and company-issued safety glasses. In mold making, cementing, and fiberglass departments, you wear a respirator or N95 mask as required to protect your health while working in dusty conditions and around fiberglass.
