KPMG's National M&A Tax practice continues to expand its presence in Western Canada and is seeking a Senior Manager or Manager to join the growing Calgary team. This role offers exposure to large, high-profile transactions, with a strong emphasis on private equity and private capital strategies.
You will work on complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions, collaborating across KPMG's national and global network, and contributing to the build-out of a high-performing M&A capability in Calgary. This opportunity offers direct involvement in end-to-end deal execution from due diligence to structuring while playing a key role in developing the local practice and supporting national mandates.
What you will do
Lead and manage tax due diligence engagements, identifying key risks, exposures, and structuring opportunities
Advise on tax structuring for acquisitions, including private equity and private capital investments
Develop and review tax models to evaluate transaction scenarios and outcomes
Review transaction documents and provide detailed tax comments to support deal execution
Manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects involving cross-functional teams and multiple jurisdictions
Collaborate with colleagues across Canada and globally to deliver integrated tax and legal solutions
Provide guidance and oversight to managers and junior team members
Contribute to practice growth initiatives, supporting the expansion of the M&A Tax capability in Calgary
What you bring to the role
CPA designation
A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax, with significant exposure to M&A transactions
Strong experience leading due diligence and managing large, complex transactions from start to finish
Strong understanding of Canadian tax legislation and its application to M&A and private equity transactions
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-jurisdictional projects and coordinate across global teams
Experience working with private equity clients, pension funds, or large institutional investors is an asset
Strong project management capability, with experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and workstreams
Proven ability to coach and develop team members while managing client relationships and deliverables
