PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Manager Transload Strategy drives the growth and performance of CPKC’s Transload Services network across Canada. Leveraging data-driven insights, you will identify growth opportunities, support revenue expansion, enhance customer experience, and develop innovative transportation and logistics solutions. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will lead strategic initiatives, optimize transload operations, and expand value-added services to meet evolving market and customer needs.
This position can be based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ontario, or Montreal, Quebec.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Drive revenue growth by supporting CPKC Commercial teams in developing and executing transload strategies and customer solutions
Identify, evaluate, and lead new transload opportunities from concept through implementation and commercialization
Analyze market trends, facility performance, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and inform business decisions
Develop transload and delivery (T&D) pricing, prepare customer proposals, and manage service agreements and rate contracts
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, transload operators, warehouse providers, trucking companies, contractors, and other key stakeholders
Collaborate with Train & Engine (T&E) personnel, Service Design, and Customer Service teams to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery
Manage the performance and growth of the regional transload facility network to support customer retention and revenue expansion
Lead transload facility expansion and capital projects, including business case development, budgeting, construction oversight, and commissioning
Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and multi-year plans (MYP), while overseeing transload invoice validation, approval, and payment processes
Ensure compliance with CPKC safety, environmental, and risk management standards while representing CPKC at customer meetings, industry events, and market conferences.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Economics, Mathematics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in transportation, logistics, commercial, supply chain, and/or operations environment; experience working with a transload service provider, bulk commodity trucking operation, or a related logistics environment is considered an asset
An understanding of the supply chain interface between rail and trucking operations, including the movement and fluidity of bulk commodities, would be highly advantageous
Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging data, spreadsheets, and reporting tools to identify trends, evaluate opportunities, and support business decision-making
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong working relationships
Self-starter with a positive attitude, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Must possess a valid driver’s license and passport for cross-border travel
