ABOUT THE ROLE The Manager, Hockey Operations – Video and Analytics provides leadership for all video and technology operations across Hockey Canada's National Teams, with primary responsibility for the Program of Excellence teams (National Junior and Under-18 Men's) and the development of Hockey Canada's Analytics Hub. Reporting to the Director, Performance Analysis, this role ensures Hockey Canada's coaches and management teams are the most prepared of any nation at any tournament entered, through excellence in video preparation, analytics infrastructure, technology systems, and staff development. HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL MISSION OF HOCKEY CANADA Leadership and Oversight Serve as the primary point of contact for video technology across all National Team programs, leading day-to-day operations, training staff, and ensuring consistent implementation of standards set by the Director. Lead the building, design, and ongoing maintenance of Hockey Canada's Analytics Hub, ensuring it serves as a world-class analytics portal for National Team programs. Directly supervise the Coordinator, Video, including setting priorities, managing workload, conducting performance reviews, and supporting their professional development. Coordinate with contract video staff and coaches across National Teams, camps, and events to ensure alignment on operational procedures and consistent delivery standards. Identify technology and equipment needs across National Team programs and develop multi-year procurement plans for Director approval. Provide support to the Director, Performance Analysis on ongoing projects and initiatives. Represent Hockey Canada's video operations in cross-departmental planning and at external professional development forums (e.g., Catapult, NHL Draft seminars). Video Operations (National Junior and Under-18 Teams) Travel with and serve as Video Coach for the National Junior Team (WJC) and National Men's Under-18 Team (U18WC). Lead all video operations during events, including live-game coding, coach challenge protocols (communication plans, radio equipment, backup systems), and bench iPad management via GameStrat. Present IIHF rules and Sport Regulations to teams and staff prior to each event. Create teaching and motivational videos as directed by coaching staff. Oversee procurement of all opponent and player evaluation video. Create documentation, pre-scouts, and player data in conjunction with the Analytics Coordinator as required. Create and compile technical packages using Catapult/Focus, Canva, PowerPoint, and other software. Systems and Infrastructure Management Administer Hockey Canada's video technology infrastructure, including 4 Micro-Servers (MNT, WNT, Para, MNT-JR), 50+ client machines, and cloud-based software platforms. Manage user accounts, permissions, and security protocols for all video systems across National Teams. Oversee equipment logistics for 8 video trunks (5 North America, 3 Europe), including procurement, maintenance, inventory management, and coordination with Operations staff on shipping deadlines. Maintain expert-level proficiency in Catapult/Focus Hockey software, Simply Live/Hawkeye video review systems, and GameStrat bench technology. Oversee the backup and organization of all media and data files relating to video and analytics. Evaluate emerging video and analytics technologies to ensure Hockey Canada remains a world-class leader. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls for the Analytics Hub. Program Support Support the National Men's Under-17 program and provide expertise to other National Teams as organizational needs require. Provide video and technical support to all National Teams as required. Contribute to technical video development for the Program of Excellence (POE) seminar, National Women's Teams, National Para Teams, National Men's Teams, and goaltending curriculum. Support Hockey Development staff access to practice, game, and other footage. Support other Hockey Canada departments as required. EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED Effectiveness of video systems, technology infrastructure, and operational procedures across all National Teams. Quality of supervision, mentorship, and professional development provided to the Coordinator, Video. Level of passion, drive, and ambition consistent with Hockey Canada's culture. Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate collaboration with the broader team. Ability to work effectively within a high-pressure team environment while attending camps and events 3-5+ years experience in a video coach role with a club or national team. Exceptional knowledge of Catapult/Focus and peripheral hardware, including SQL server, computer networking, and router applications. Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising staff or contractors. Experience operating cameras and capture hardware (H264, Cross-Converters); knowledge of video resolutions, codecs, NTSC/PAL, and frame rates. Excellent understanding of Windows-based systems and video presentation tools (projectors, screens). Strong proficiency with Office 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Knowledge of Adobe products (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator) is a strong asset. Demonstrated communication skills across varying audiences and situations. Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills and high professionalism. Ability to prioritize workload and solve problems quickly. Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset. Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Verification. Working Conditions Ability to work staggered hours, evenings, and weekends as necessary. Travel requirements will be moderate to heavy depending on event schedule. Ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods, including non-traditional hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
