The Halifax Climate Investment, Innovation and Impact Fund(HCi3) is looking for a Manager,Climate Finance to join our organization. In this role, you will help advance climateaction by supporting impact investments, partnerships, innovative financingopportunities, and the strategic deployment of capital to maximize community,equity, and environmental benefits. About HCi3 The Halifax Climate Investment, Innovation and Impact Fund (HCi3) supportcarbon-reduction initiatives in the Halifax/Kjipuktuk region and across Nova Scotiathrough scalable, community-focused solutions that advance social equity, Reconciliation, and broader community andenvironmental benefits. Founded in 2020 as part of the Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3) network,HCi3 operates as a subsidiary of EfficiencyOne, leveraging national and local expertise to drive innovation and knowledge-sharing. Position Summary We areseeking a Manager, Climate Finance to lead financial analysis, due diligence, and the structuringof impact investment opportunities in the Halifax/Kjipuktuk region and beyond. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager will help build HCi3’s investment pipeline, assess opportunities, and develop investment recommendations. The role will also provide financial expertise to supportinnovative financing models, endowment growth, and the attraction of additional capital. Key Responsibilities Lead financialanalysis for potential impactinvestments, including financial,technical, and organizational due diligence; risk assessment;feasibility; mitigation strategies; and long-term sustainability. Exploreinnovative financing strategies that accelerate climate action and attractadditional capital, including community bonds, energy-as-a-service models, andother partnership-based approaches. Work with projectproponents, consultants, investors, financial institutions, and fundingpartners to structure financing solutions, including loans, lines of credit, and equity investments. Support climate finance activities throughstakeholder engagement, partnership building, and project pipelinedevelopment. Support effortsto grow HCi3’s endowment by identifying funding opportunities, preparingmaterials for funders and partners, and contributingto proposals and business cases. Monitor, evaluate, and report on the financialand impact performance of HCi3’s investments. Prepare investment proposals, pitch decks,briefing materials, and other investment-related documentation as required. Support theExecutive Director with HCi3’s strategicplan, annual business plans, and quarterlyand annual reporting. Conductresearch and environmental scanning to inform programming and financingmechanisms, andidentify emerging opportunities, trends, and best practices. Recruit, supervise, and support interns and/orstaff, where applicable. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Post-secondary education in Business, Finance,or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education andexperience. An MBA, CFA, or other relevant professional designationwould be considered an asset. Minimum five (5)years of experience in financial modeling,financial analysis, capital budgeting, and financing solutions. Experience in commercial banking, impactinvesting, project finance, or a related field would be considered anasset. Experience,knowledge, or establishednetworks in climate, cleantechnology, sustainability, or community economic development would beconsidered an asset, particularly within Halifax Regional Municipality andAtlantic Canada. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize andmanage multiple projects. Excellent verbaland written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and technical informationclearly to diverse audiences. Strong analyticaland quantitative skills, with sound financial judgment and problem-solvingabilities. Ability to build and maintain effectiveworking relationships with internal and external stakeholders, includingsenior leaders, funders, partners, and community organizations. Demonstrated commitment to equity, Reconciliation,and inclusive engagement practices. Location/Hours This is a 37.5-hour-per-week position based in the Halifax Regional Municipality. An office-based or hybridwork arrangement is available. The role will involve engaging with people across the city andprovince, including attending in-person meetings and events.
