Job Title: Maintenance Technician – Manufacturing
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. You will work across multiple facilities and occasionally on customer or field sites, performing preventive maintenance, equipment installations, and general repairs while adhering to safety standards and documentation requirements.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of production and facility equipment, including saws, brake presses, vacuum lifters, CNC equipment, cranes, engines, pneumatic systems, forklifts, and related machinery.
Assist with the installation of new equipment, including setting up, aligning, testing, and commissioning machinery.
Support equipment rebuilds, system modifications, and upgrades to improve performance, reliability, and safety.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and all safety systems remain fully operational at all times.
Carry out general facility repairs, including minor plumbing and electrical work, as well as the repair of doors, faucets, and appliances.
Complete repair and maintenance tasks in the maintenance shop, across two manufacturing facilities, and occasionally on external or on-site locations as required.
Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including repairs, labor hours, and materials used, in accordance with company procedures.
Identify, initiate, and communicate corrective and preventive maintenance solutions through appropriate channels.
Perform light facilities work as needed to support overall plant operations.
Ensure that all work practices comply with WorkSafe BC and CSA safety standards and internal safety policies.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe, and actively contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Complete required paperwork and documentation clearly and accurately, including maintenance logs and service reports.
Work overtime when required to support production needs, breakdowns, or special projects.
Collaborate with an energetic maintenance crew to prioritize tasks, share knowledge, and support team goals.
Essential Skills
Minimum 4 years of experience working in a maintenance technician role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated systems.
Mechanical knowledge, including a solid understanding of tools, materials, and mechanical assemblies.
Hands-on electrical and troubleshooting experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Proven welding and fabrication experience for repair and modification of equipment and components.
Ability to safely lift up to 22 kg as part of regular duties.
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, typically obtained through a high school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to complete paperwork, maintenance records, and service reports accurately and legibly.
Reliable transportation to and from the worksite and to support occasional field or on-site work.
Willingness and ability to work overtime when required.
Hardworking, reliable team player with a strong work ethic.
Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as a Red Seal Millwright, experienced non-ticketed maintenance technician, or mechanically skilled candidate with electrical, pneumatic, and automation knowledge is highly valued.
Experience in manufacturing maintenance, including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance programs.
Comfort working with a wide range of industrial equipment such as saws, brake presses, vacuum lifters, CNC machinery, cranes, engines, pneumatic systems, and forklifts.
Familiarity with WorkSafe BC and CSA safety standards and safe work practices.
Strong attention to detail in both hands-on work and documentation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a small, energetic team.
Openness to ongoing training, upskilling, and participation in career development programs.
Apprentices in years 2–3 of their trade, or candidates with the right knowledge and attitude who are eager to grow, are encouraged to apply.

Work Environment
This role is primarily based in a manufacturing environment with work performed in the maintenance shop, across two production facilities, and occasionally at external or on-site locations. The current schedule is an AM shift starting around 6:00 a.m. on a 5x8 schedule, with some flexibility and the potential for future PM or staggered shifts. Candidates should be flexible with hours and free of significant time constraints, as overtime and occasional field work may be required. You will work as part of an energetic maintenance crew, currently a small team with plans to grow, fostering close collaboration and teamwork. The environment involves working around industrial equipment such as saws, brake presses, vacuum lifters, CNC machines, cranes, engines, pneumatic systems, and forklifts. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe footwear (provided by the employee), with rain gear, a maintenance truck, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection provided as needed. The work is generally not overly heavy but can be physically demanding at times, including lifting up to 22 kg and moving around a busy production environment while following strict safety procedures and standards.
