Company overview: Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Maintenance and Engineering Manager for the Engineered Wood Products (EWP) business. This position reports to the Mill Manager of the Kenora TimberStrand manufacturing facility and is located in Kenora, Ontario. This is a full-time, exempt position.
The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is responsible for all maintenance associates and functions, including safety, maximizing machine productivity and uptime, and the condition and upkeep of the facility. The role drives improvements and implements changes to optimize maintenance processes, identify cost-effective solutions, and implement them.

Responsibilities
Role model all safety standards and on-the-job behavior by living our core values Safety, Integrity, Citizenship, Sustainability, and Inclusion.
Work closely with the maintenance team to maximize improvements in maintenance functions.
Lead preventative maintenance and process reliability efforts and manage improvement of key performance indicators.
Accountable for department budget and cost effectiveness.
Develop and train associates, conduct performance reviews, coach, and ensure accountability.
Contribute to strategic planning, providing input, direction, and solutions to issues.
Work closely with regional engineers and external contractors.
Recommend improvements based on analytical data.
Build positive relationships with operations and maintenance personnel to improve mill operations.
Stay current on changing technical, reliability, and maintenance management improvements in the industry.
Assist with troubleshooting equipment mechanical and/or electrical issues and provide resources to resolve problems safely and efficiently.
Support other mill functions as needed, such as safety or environmental initiatives.
Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience in a maintenance leadership role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Proven commitment to safety and safety initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to effectively lead people and promote teamwork.
Good working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and PLC programming and/or troubleshooting.
Ability to develop and lead training activities.
Documented experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
Proven expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Initiative to get things done with minimal supervision.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to establish positive relationships with mill leadership, hourly associates and business leaders.
Willingness to travel occasionally to other sites to review opportunities to exchange technology, innovations and best practices.
Ability to perform physical requirements of working in an industrial environment, such as climbing stairs and working in extreme heat and cold.
Willingness to support a 24/7 operating environment, which may include weekend and holiday support as conditions require.
Ability to physically perform the requirements of working in a 24/7 operating facility, including working in extreme temperatures and navigating catwalks and uneven surfaces.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS systems.
Location and Benefits
Kenora is located on Lake of the Woods, offering recreational opportunities in Ontario. Compensation includes an annual merit-increase program, with a salary range of $115,852 - $171,053 based on skills and experience. Eligible for an Annual Incentive Program with a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times the target. Benefits include a comprehensive plan covering medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Retirement options include a Defined Contribution Pension Plan with company match and a Group RRSP option.
