Maintenance Assistant
to join our
Petrolia
team on a 6 month contract basis and help keep our fleet and facilities running smoothly.
The Opportunity
As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the upkeep of Langs’ school buses, vans, and garage facilities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, variety in their day, and working as part of a team. You’ll assist with fueling, cleaning, light vehicle and yard maintenance, seasonal tasks, and supporting mechanics and shop operations. You’ll also have the opportunity to step in as a spare driver when needed, making this a versatile and essential role in our operations.
Responsibilities
·
Fuel
vehicles and check fluid levels of busses being washed; report any concerns.
·
Clean
vehicle interiors and exteriors using pressure washers and manual tools.
·
Perform
light maintenance such as changing bulbs, wipers, or topping up supplies.
·
Assist
with snow removal, salting, leaf clearing, and general yard upkeep.
·
Move
and reposition vehicles in the yard as permitted by license class.
·
Support
mechanics with minor tasks or equipment setup.
·
Pick
up parts or materials using company vehicles.
·
Track
supplies and help with restocking shop inventory.
·
Maintain
cleanliness in the garage and driver/common areas.
·
Serve
as a spare bus driver when required, in line with license qualifications.
Qualifications
·
High
school diploma or equivalent.
·
Previous
experience in maintenance, labour, or vehicle support is an asset.
·
Basic
knowledge of vehicle systems and safe tool use.
·
Ability
to perform physical work outdoors in all weather.
·
Strong
communication skills and a team-focused mindset.
·
Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license (required)
with the ability to obtain a B license
·
Valid Ontario Class B driver’s license is considered
a strong asset.
