Job Title: CNC Machinist - Lathe
Location - Edmonton
Wage - 32/hr. or above
Shift - Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
Job Description
You will set up and operate CNC lathes to machine small to very large components, using Siemens, Fanuc, or Fagor conversational controls.
The work involves parts ranging from approximately 12 to 40 inches in diameter and weighing from 1 to 400 pounds
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC lathes to machine a variety of parts, including both production components and repair jobs.
Work with parts ranging from approximately 12 to 40 inches in diameter and weighing between 1 and 400 pounds, ensuring safe and accurate handling at all times.
Use Siemens, Fanuc, or Fagor conversational controls to run, adjust, and optimize machining programs.
Operate and monitor L&L, Mazak, and Weiler CNC machines to produce parts to specification.
Interpret job travelers, work orders, and basic technical information to determine machining requirements.
Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, dimensional inaccuracies, and surface finish problems, and make appropriate adjustments.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes in a machine shop environment.
Proficiency with Siemens, Fanuc, or Fagor conversational controls for CNC operation.
Ability to work with a wide range of part sizes, including large components up to approximately 40 inches in diameter and up to 400 pounds.
Experience in both production machining and repair or job shop work.
A Journeyman (JM) machinist ticket is preferred but equivalent experience will be considered.
Work Environment
The role is based in a large, established machine shop that includes dedicated lathe and mill machine areas as well as a quality control department.
The facility is undergoing renovations in office and related areas, reflecting ongoing investment in the workplace.
Shop handles production runs and repair work, mainly for the oil and gas industry, and regularly processes large and heavy parts, so overhead cranes and forklifts are used for material handling.
