We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time paralegal or legal administrative assistant in our Litigation department. Duties of this role include but are not limited to:
Drafting correspondence and legal documents
Scheduling examinations, applications, court dates, mediations, and trials
Preparing bills and invoices
Managing bring-forward system and ensuring deadlines are met
Collaborating with colleagues and clients on file progress
Communicating with clients
Reviewing and organizing medical briefs
Managing files through all stages of the legal process
Maintaining client files
Managing lawyers’ calendars
Scheduling meetings and appointments
Making travel arrangements and reservations
Mentoring and training junior staff
Researching and preparing for monthly litigation meetings
Receiving “cold calls” and allocating to the appropriate person
Keeping litigation precedents current
Awareness of what is involved in preparing for trial and being fully “hands on” with that process
Other administrative tasks as required
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience working in litigation
Completion of a Paralegal or Legal Administrative Assistant program, or a combination of equivalent education and experience
Thorough knowledge of BC court rules and procedures
Superb communication skills with proven ability to interact tactfully and be personable
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Organized, and able to manage and anticipate competing priorities
Have excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work independently
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. This position is located on-site, in our downtown Kamloops location.
Salary: Starting at $60,000 annually. A higher salary will be considered where a candidate’s advanced legal experience or paralegal designation would provide significant additional value to the role.
