Position Summary
CSN Collision New Hamburg is currently seeking a skilled
Auto Body Technician
to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition, ensuring structural integrity, functionality, and high-quality finish. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop environment.
Primary Objectives of the Auto Body (Collision Repair) Technician:
Review repair orders and damage estimates to determine required work and plan the repair process
Conduct a thorough inspection of vehicle damage, including all exterior body components and functional systems (locks, windows, mirrors, dashboard warning lights)
Identify any additional or previously missed damage not noted in the initial estimate or QA documentation
Perform structural and full body repairs, including repairing or replacing front-end components, panels, doors, frames, and underbody parts
Assess and repair or replace interior and exterior components, including electrical systems and vehicle accessories
Straighten frames and structural components using appropriate measuring, pulling, and anchoring equipment
Repair dents, buckles, and other defects using hand tools and specialized equipment
Perform welding using MIG welders and spot welding equipment as required
Disassemble damaged areas of the vehicle, including adjacent panels, to identify hidden damage early in the repair process
Remove and replace damaged parts such as fenders, panels, and grilles using appropriate tools, and install replacement components by bolting or welding as needed
Repair or replace damaged glass, including windows, windshields, and sunroofs
Ability to file, grind and sand repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools
Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting, apply primers and repaint surfaces.
Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
Restore vehicle to factory specification (Return the vehicle back to factory/OEM specifications)
Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling
Technician must be able to read and understand the estimates.
Capable of reading and comprehending automotive repair procedures.
Able to work with a variety of metals and plastics, as well as glass, electrical, and mechanical parts.
Experience using frame and measuring equipment.
Experience with disassembly and reassembly of vehicles
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Auto Body Repair and refinishing experience - 3+ years required
Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License (310Q) (Preferred but not a must) or in a registered apprenticeship program.
Technicians with I-Car and OEM certifications are favorable.
I car Welding certification
Carrying, Lifting – 100 lbs, standing, sitting, walking, reaching)
Valid driver's license required
Must have own tools, safety footwear.
