Job Purpose: At Coventry University Kazakhstan, the Library Specialist is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the library, including resource management, user services, and information literacy support. The person will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to provide access to physical and digital resources, assist with research inquiries, and promote library services. The Library Specialist will also conduct Academic English workshops for university students. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as a commitment to creating an inclusive, engaging learning environment that supports the institution's mission, values, and goals. Main Duties and Responsibilities: User Services: Provide front-line assistance to library users, including answering reference and research queries. Support faculty and students in using digital platforms, databases, and research tools. Assist with the circulation of materials, including check-ins/outs, holds, and renewals. Educate users on library policies, procedures, and available resources. Resource Management: Maintain the library database and ensure accurate records of resources. Assist with cataloging and classifying library materials (books, journals, multimedia, etc.) in accordance with library standards. Oversee the acquisition and withdrawal of materials, ensuring the collection remains current and relevant. Information Literacy and Research Support: Deliver information literacy sessions to students, teaching them how to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively. Offer personalized research assistance to students and faculty, guiding them through the research process. Assist in the creation of instructional materials such as research guides, tutorials, and workshops. Digital Resources and Technology: Manage access to online databases, e-books, and other digital resources. Support the library’s efforts to integrate technology and digital learning tools. Troubleshoot issues related to electronic resources and liaise with vendors for technical support. Outreach and Collaboration: Promote library services and resources through workshops, seminars, and events. Collaborate with faculty to align library resources with course content and curriculum needs. Participate in university committees and engage with other departments to enhance the role of the library in academic success. Library Operations: Monitor and manage library spaces, ensuring a welcoming, organized, and safe environment. Assist in the development and enforcement of library policies and procedures. Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting assistance, and compiling library usage statistics.
