Job DescriptionJob Description Position Overview: We are seeking a legal assistant to join our team and support our lawyers. This is an Ottawa-based and in-office position. Key Responsibilities : · Format and file legal documents such as case briefs and pleadings as well as prepare letters and assist with court and tribunal filings. · Open and close client files (including clearing conflicts checks). · Communicate with clients, courts, tribunals, and other law firms as needed. · Assist with client billing, invoicing, and tracking hours as required. · Schedule meetings and coordinate travel arrangements and social events. · Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing emails, and office support. Qualifications : · Diploma or certificate from a Canadian college or university program for Legal Assistants · Familiarity with legal terminology, court or Tribunal procedures, and legal documentation. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe. · Ability to work independently and in a team environment and to handle multiple tasks under pressure. · Excellent organizational and time management skills. · Proficiency in English. Additional proficiency in French is preferred, but not required.
