Qualifications
MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Master’s degree or PhD (preferred) in a related social science area is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals is required.
A Master’s degree in a related social science discipline is required, PhD is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in conducting and leading large-scale research projects is required.
Experience in working with equity-focused research projects with vulnerable populations in higher education contexts is required.
Experience with Research Ethics Board Applications is required.
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is required.
Familiarity with web-based resources (PubMed, psych info, reference manager programs) is required.
Familiarity with quantitative (e.g. SPSS) and qualitative (Dedoose, NVivo) data analysis programs is required.
Effective communication skills, written and verbal as well as excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Demonstrated skills in setting up, conducting, analysing qualitative interviews, conducting systematic reviews, literature searches, annotated bibliography, and report writing are required.
Must be able to work independently to manage and execute assigned tasks.
Ability to travel, generally for short periods, to assist with or manage data collection activities related to the project in other locations is required.
Ability to learn computer programs and use them effectively including web-based programs is required.
Ability to communicate research data both orally and in writing, including presenting posters/seminars at scientific meetings is required.
Must be able to work collaboratively with a team.
Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

Required:
Recent experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, as well as a minimum of five years of professional experience within a university environment.
Experience with statistical software and data analysis required.
Familiarity with web-based resources.
Familiarity with quantitative (e.g. SPSS) and qualitative (Dedoose, NVivo) data analysis programs.
Key responsibilities
Research
Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and environmental scans to support research activities, including identifying, evaluating, synthesizing, and summarizing relevant scholarly and community-based literature.
Prepare literature summaries, annotated bibliographies, and background reports to inform research design, implementation, and dissemination.
Coordinate and execute all phases of research projects, including data collection, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
Develop and implement research methodologies, protocols, and data collection procedures in collaboration with the research team.
Recruit and coordinate research participants in accordance with approved research protocols.
Schedule and conduct interviews, focus groups, and other research activities as required.
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data using appropriate software and analytical techniques, including SPSS, NVivo, Dedoose, or other relevant research tools.
Identify, collect, organize, and analyze relevant documents, records, and research materials to support project objectives.
Prepare, submit, and maintain Research Ethics Board applications, amendments, annual reports, and related documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with ethical and institutional requirements.
Draft and contribute to scholarly publications, conference presentations, technical reports, grant reports, and plain-language knowledge mobilization materials.
Assist in the development, preparation, and submission of grant applications, funding proposals, and related research initiatives.
Monitor funding opportunities, grant deadlines, and reporting requirements, and provide recommendations to the supervisor regarding potential funding sources.
Prepare progress reports, final reports, and other deliverables required by granting agencies and project sponsors.
Organize and coordinate research team meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting discussions, and tracking action items.
Present research findings to academic, professional, community, and stakeholder audiences, as required.
Travel may be required to support research activities, data collection, conferences, and knowledge mobilization initiatives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Project Coordination and Administrative Support
Coordinate meetings, interviews, and activities involving co-investigators, advisory committees, research partners, and other project personnel.
Provide administrative and logistical support for research projects, including scheduling, communications, documentation, and records management.
Prepare and coordinate research posters, conference proposals and presentations, scholarly manuscripts and other dissemination materials.
Support the development, maintenance, and updating of project-related web-based resources and communication platforms.
Coordinate and support data collection activities conducted at external locations, partner sites, or community settings.
Maintain project records and documentation, including meeting minutes, correspondence, and project files.
Lead with tracking project timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements to support successful project completion.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
