Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Lead Electrical Engineer Job Description The Lead Electrical Engineer provides high-quality electrical engineering services, ensuring technical execution across projects. This role supports the delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements while contributing to the mentoring and development of the electrical engineering team. The candidate will manage both low to medium and high voltage leads. Responsibilities Deliver electrical engineering services that meet client and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget. Lead the execution of electrical engineering activities on assigned projects or defined project scopes. Support project planning and delivery, including participation in relevant meetings and preparation of progress reports. Ensure project scope is clearly defined and manage changes in accordance with project change management processes. Provide technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. Prepare and review electrical equipment and material requisitions, and conduct technical bid evaluations. Review vendor documentation and purchase orders. Coordinate electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated project delivery. Identify and resolve discrepancies between client standards and requirements. Support the development and technical review of electrical engineering deliverables. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers and designers. Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders. Proactively identify technical issues and risks, develop appropriate solutions, and escalate when needed. Essential Skills Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. P.ENG certification and expertise in stamping. 20 - 30 years of experience with at least 10 years in an EPC environment. Experience leading a team of 4-5 engineers. Strong working knowledge of electrical engineering deliverables and design, including single-line diagrams, power distribution, and motor control systems. Experience with engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools such as SAP and KMS. Familiarity with process safety and operability considerations, including participation in HAZOP/LOPA. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with SKM and EPLAN software. Positive mindset with workshare experience. Understanding of project scope definition and workshare execution. Work Environment The Lead Electrical Engineer will report to the Chief Electrical Engineer and work on a variety of projects with an estimated total investment cost of 6-7 billion over the next 3.5-4 years. Projects include SAGD expansions, mega pipeline projects, and large-scale gas processing facilities. The work environment is dynamic, involving collaboration with oil & gas operators, midstream companies, and multidisciplinary teams. The role offers the opportunity to support and lead different project phases while mentoring process engineers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
