Job Description Job Purpose Under the direction and support of the Director, Land and Development Services, the Land Assistant is an administrative clerical role that supports the management of the County’s municipal land and facilities portfolio as well as developer driven infrastructure acceptance. The Land and Development Services department supports staff, citizens, development, and construction applicants with planning application/processes and provides a wide range of administrative services with processes development, building and trades permits, subdivision applications, and rezoning applications. Job Duties and Responsibilities • Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers. • Have a basic understanding of the regulatory requirements related to land and property rights in Alberta and the Municipal Government Act as it pertains to land, facilities, and infrastructure acquisition. • Possess a thorough understanding of the technical requirements to ensure legal and procedural obligations are met. • Track and manage the County’s held development securities related to developer driven infrastructure acceptance and approach installations. • Support Facilities with triaging and initiation of work orders in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). • Provide Administrative support to Land and Development Services, Facilities, and Development Engineering by drafting and proofing correspondence, responding to inquires, conducting file reviews and monitoring departmental e-mail accounts. • Read and interpret legal surveys, plans, and Land Titles documents. • Track and manage the County’s land and facilities interests. • Administrative duties such as filing organizing information in paper and digital form, printing, photocopying, typing letters and reports, data entry, scheduling meetings and booking facilities, arranging post and deliveries, taking minutes at meetings, liaising with suppliers and contractors, greeting visitors, answering phones, and responding to queries on the phone and by email. • Navigate various software platforms to successfully fulfill the duties of the job. • Provide front-line customer service to applicants, landowners, developers, and agencies pertaining to development agreements, development charges, approach requests, and utility approvals. • Cash receipting and till management including cash outs and coding of transactions related to municipal land management, Development Engineering, and Facilities.
