Forklift Operators/Laborer's with Cando are responsible for performing the safe and efficient loading and unloading of product and the flow of storage containers to proper storage areas. Working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment, the Operators must work well in teams and independently to maximize efficiency while demonstrating a strong initiative and safety focus. Operators work on the exterior of the plant only, in all weather conditions.
Roles & Responsibilities
Operate equipment such as lift truck, lift truck attachments, genie lift, etc. according to the safety rules and regulations of Cando and its customer
Maintain inventory by identifying, labelling, and placing storage containers in stock and recording locations of inventory
Load and offloaded products from flatbed trailers
Organize racking and containers by MAC I.D. numbers, and deliver racking to shipping docks in inclement weather.
Sweep and powerwash scrap area and scales when necessary
Document product shipment by recording units shipped
Load tin scales with scrap materials as needed, empty scrap hoppers into scrap bins
Adhere to all Health and Safety Programs; conduct job hazard analysis, report unsafe working conditions, and ensure they are repaired immediately
Contribute to team effort by assisting other team members in all functions of the job; take direction from Cando Supervisor and Customer Team Leaders
Perform daily equipment inspections, and keep equipment clean of garbage and debris
Ensure the customer site is clean, tidy, organized, and a safe work place at all times
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Prioritize and perform multiple tasks with the ability to meet daily demands and function in busy situations
Ability to operate and perform daily maintenance on required machinery including the ability to change clamps and exchange propane cylinders
Medically fit to work in a safety sensitive environment; physically fit including the ability to pull self up and down from truck and forklift
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions at a plant that operates 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week
Demonstrate initiative to work with others to foster a respectful workplace
Able to accept new challenges and responsibilities as they arise
General knowledge of computer systems, business equipment, and shipping documents
Education & Experience
Training will be provided; Must be able to hold and maintain required certification
Experience operating forklifts, genie lifts, etc is preferred
