HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 138,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more. For more information, visit www.heabc.bc.ca. OPPORTUNITY: HEABC has an opening for a Labour Relations Consultant (LRC). The LRC performs labour relations advisory and consulting services as part of the HEABC in-house legal services and labour relations team. They provide advice and opinions on a range of policy and labour relations issues, attend trouble-shooter and expedited hearings, and assist with negotiations planning and supports the Lead Negotiator at bargaining table with research and drafting documents. Responsibilities include: Providing labour relations advice to members on a range of labour, employment law, privacy law, workplace health and safety and human rights law issues. Interprets collective agreements, legislation, and policy, and utilizes established interpretations and guidelines to ensure consistent application of the collective agreement and legislation and continuity in the provision of advice within the health sector. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with member organizations, health sector unions and outside agencies; fosters effective working relationships within HEABC. Representing HEABC and its member organizations at meetings to resolve disputes prior to formal third-party hearings and addresses employer specific issues or industry issues. Required Experience & Knowledge: Bachelors degree in industrial relations, business or a related discipline from an accredited University Minimum of seven (7) years recent, related experience in labour relations and/or labour and employment law or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge of health sector labour relations, related legislation, collective agreements and jurisprudence. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated analytical, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others. Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and execute work within demanding work schedules. Salary Range: $90,770 to $119,135 Typical Hiring Range: $90,770 to $113,462 In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidates skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABCs sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
