The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre’s laboratory is a 24/7 operation that provides essential laboratory services which offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment that enables you to work to your full-scope of practice. The successful candidate will perform a variety of routine and specialized Anatomical Pathology and Microbiology procedures. Duties include handling and preparing tissue for processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining procedures. Performing frozen section procedures, grossing and routine equipment maintenance. Troubleshooting of various laboratory instruments and quality control activities. Responsible for microbiology laboratory-based tasks, which includes sample preparation, testing, measuring, recording, and analyzing results in human biological clinical sciences. The successful candidate will be a quality oriented, organized individual offering creative and innovative solutions that positively contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance will be calculated on an hourly basis and paid per pay period for all Employer-paid hours at the Basic Rate of Pay, exclusive of overtime. This allowance is non-pensionable.
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications
Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. Must be able to represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Anatomic Pathology and Microbiology is an asset. Epic Beaker LIS experience.
