Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and diligent Laboratory Technician to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and a drive to support cutting-edge research and development projects.
The Laboratory Technician will play a key role in supporting the analytical capabilities of the company. This position will be involved in generating data and results to support recycling and mining R&D initiatives, produce quality assays for pH7s customers and partners, and help expand analytical capacity to meet the needs of the company.
Key Responsibilities
Weigh, dilute, and prepare samples for weekly analyses based on project demands and workflows
Prepare stock solutions and standards
Operate ICP-MS, XRF, and other instrumentation
Digest samples using hot plate or microwave-assisted methods
Manage waste and sample retention
Record and report analytical results, following established SOPs and quality control protocols
Assist in method development, including trialing, verification, and validation of new analytical procedures
Actively engage in quality programs and initiatives to maintain the integrity of laboratory outputs
Uphold a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment, consistently adhering to safety and environmental regulations
Work with team members to meet company goals and deadlines, ensuring smooth laboratory operations
Assist in miscellaneous laboratory tasks when the need arises
Key Competencies
Exhibit exceptional attention to detail in sample preparation, testing, and reporting to ensure accurate and consistent results
Ability to work independently, with strong organizational and time management skills
Maintain strict adherence to safety and environmental standards in all laboratory activities
Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills to address technical challenges
Display strong collaboration skills and a willingness to communicate with team members to achieve production and quality objectives
A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt to new methods and technologies
What You'll Need
Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, or a related scientific discipline
Minimum of 1-2 years of previous experience working in an analytical laboratory or metallurgical testing environment operating laboratory equipment such as balances, pipettes, and centrifuges
Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and wet chemistry methods such as principles of titration, acid digestion, filtration, etc.
Comfortable standing for extended periods and engaging in repeated motions, occasional lifting of heavy objects
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
How You'll Stand Out
Knowledge/understanding of quality principles (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025)
Experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
Experience operating analytical instrumentation (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRD, XRF, etc.)
Working Hours & Environment
This is a permanent full-time, on-site, salaried position with pH7 Technologies. Working hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Note: the work location will be transitioning from Burnaby to Vancouver in late 2026 or early 2027.
