Job Title: Lab Technician II Job Description The Lab Technician II performs routine analytical laboratory testing on hydrocarbon- and water-based samples to support research, development, quality objectives, and sales activities. This role operates, calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots analytical instruments to ensure accurate and reliable data. The Lab Technician II executes analytical methods in accordance with approved procedures and safety guidelines while maintaining clear documentation and effective communication with scientists, engineers, and sales teams. Responsibilities + Perform routine analytical laboratory testing on hydrocarbon- and water-based samples in support of research, development, quality objectives, and sales support. + Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and optimal performance. + Execute analytical methods and experiments in accordance with approved procedures, test methods, ASTM standards, and safety guidelines. + Accurately record, analyze, and interpret analytical data, ensuring completeness, traceability, and compliance with laboratory standards and quality requirements. + Prepare and maintain clear, well-documented records, reports, and data summaries to support technical reviews and decision-making. + Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and MS Office tools to manage, track, and report laboratory data and results. + Communicate analytical results promptly and effectively to scientists, engineers, and sales teams, providing clear explanations and supporting data as needed. + Follow all laboratory safety, quality, and housekeeping practices to maintain an organized, compliant, and safe work environment. + Assist analytical subject matter experts (SMEs) as needed by providing technical support, sharing findings, and contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory practices. + Identify and help diagnose anomalies in testing results and instrumentation by applying appropriate analytical techniques and troubleshooting methods. Qualifications + B.S. degree in Chemistry Work Environment This role operates in a laboratory setting focused on analytical testing of hydrocarbon- and water-based samples. The Lab Technician II works with a variety of analytical instruments and equipment, following ASTM standards and using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and MS Office for data management and reporting. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping practices, with an organized and compliant workspace. The position involves close collaboration with scientists, engineers, and sales teams, and requires consistent attention to detail, careful handling of samples, and accurate documentation of all laboratory activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
