We are looking for a Junior Construction Litigation Lawyer (Associate) to join our construction team within the firms Civil Litigation Department. We are seeking a professional self-starter with a strong work ethic who is able to manage the flow of files and meet the strict deadlines involved with construction law matters in our Barrie or Collingwood office. A strong background in drafting, analytical and research skills is essential.
The ideal candidate will:
be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
have 2-3 years of litigation and/or construction litigation experience;
have experience with drafting contracts and/or procurement documents;
have a demonstrated track record of providing excellent client service; and
have strong drafting, research, advocacy, and communication skills.
The successful candidates responsibilities will include:
preparing litigation documents;
reviewing, preparing and assisting with negotiation of construction contracts;
researching and analyzing case law to support legal advice;
attending examinations for discovery, court appearances, arbitrations, adjudications, and mediations;
assisting with or maintaining carriage of various construction disputes, including, but not limited to, contract preparation and negotiation, lien claims, breach of trust claims, deficiency claims, and procurement matters.
