The Role
This Junior Accountant will be part of the accounting team, supporting day-to-day financial operations and contributing to month-end close and process improvements. This is a hands-on role with exposure to multiple areas of accounting, ideal for someone looking to develop their technical skills and grow within a supportive team environment.
What you’ll be doing:
Core Accounting & Reconciliations
Perform regular
bank reconciliations
and investigate discrepancies
Monitor daily banking activity and ensure accuracy of transactions
Maintain and update the
prepaid expense schedule
Accounts Payable & Expenses
Support the
Accounts Payable process
, including invoice processing and documentation review
Code invoices and employee expense reports to the appropriate
general ledger accounts
Maintain accurate records of invoices, receipts, and vendor documentation
Payments & Controls
Assist with
weekly payment runs
(cheque, wire, EFT, ACH, SEPA, BACS)
Ensure all payments are processed accurately, securely, and in line with internal controls
Coordinate invoice approvals across departments to ensure proper authorization
Month-End & Reporting Support
Support the
month-end close process
, including reconciliations and journal entries
Assist with ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies
Support implementation of improved workflows and documentation practices
The Candidate
You are an early-career accounting professional who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to grow within a fast-paced, high-performing team.
What they’re looking for:
1–2 years of accounting experience (not entry-level)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Proficiency in
Excel
Nice to have:
Experience with systems such as
NetSuite, Coupa, or Concur
Interest in pursuing a
CPA designation
Compensation
Competitive base $60,000 - $65,000, plus benefits including health coverage, RRSP matching, and
flexible time off policy, with an encouraged 20 days off per year.
Where
Hybrid – Burnaby (2 days in office per week: Wednesday & Thursday).
