We are looking for a
motivated, detail-oriented Jr. General Accountant
who is ready to roll up their sleeves, learn, contribute, and grow with us. This is an opportunity to step beyond traditional accounting and gain
hands-on exposure to the financial operations of a residential home builder
, while helping establish processes, systems, and best practices from the very beginning.
Working closely with the accounting and operations teams, you will support a variety of accounting functions while helping develop and implement processes and systems as the company grows. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a minimum of 2 years of accounting experience who is eager to expand their skills, take on new challenges, and grow with the company.
OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Controller, the Jr General Accountant is responsible for maintaining all payables and receivables while providing a wide range of support at the transactional level including understanding intercompany balances, reconciling accounts, posting to the general ledger and working closely with all team members at Ronmor Residential.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure all payables have been entered and paid in timely manner
Prepare and enter journal entries as required
Complete bank reconciliations as needed
Support GST returns and other government remittances
Account analysis and reconciliations
Assist the monthly financial reporting close
Prepare timely and accurate corporate credit card reconciliations
Assist with preparation of the annual budget
Liaise in a timely manner with vendors with regards to any invoicing concerns
Support the preparation of the cheque runs to ensure timely payment of vendor invoices
Support the implementation of a new ERP system
Provide support for auditors as part of review and audit engagements
Prepare ad hoc analysis as required
Assist with other accounting projects as required
REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS)
Post-secondary education in Business/Accounting, or combination of education and progressively responsible experience
2+ years of relevant accounting experience
Experience in the residential real estate industry considered an asset
Experience with Brix - Hyphen considered an asset
Experience or exposure to Estimating functions considered an asset
Strong Excel skills
Quick learner, self-motivated and proactive
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong analytical capability
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to situations quickly while adhering to deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Team-player attitude
