Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Journeyman Electrician Job Description This role focuses on the safe electrical disconnection and demolition support of an e-commerce grid within a large commercial facility. You will isolate and disconnect energized systems, support the mechanical removal of equipment, and ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards. The scope of work is limited to disconnection and removal support, with no new installation required. Responsibilities Perform safe lockout and isolation of all energized electrical systems tied to the grid and related peripherals. Disconnect power, control systems, and cabling to enable mechanical removal of equipment and infrastructure. Support the removal of connected systems such as conveyors, sensors, cabling, and safety devices in coordination with the electrical and site teams. Verify a zero-energy state prior to dismantling and removal activities to ensure a safe work environment. Organize, remove, and segregate cabling and materials, identifying items for reuse versus scrap where applicable. Collaborate daily with site leadership to align work with project sequencing, production schedules, and designated work areas. Perform conduit bending (up to one inch with a hand bender) and related tasks as needed for safe disconnection and removal. Follow all safety procedures, including Working at Heights, Fall Protection, WHMIS, CSTS, and elevated work platform requirements. Use elevated lift platforms and other access equipment safely when working at height. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout demolition and removal activities. Work full-time hours in alignment with site production demands, including potential overtime and some Saturday work as the project ramps up. Essential Skills Valid Journeyman Electrician certification with a Red Seal ticket. Proven commercial electrical experience, including work in large facilities; residential-only experience is not sufficient. Strong skills in electrical construction, wiring, and conduit work, including bending conduit up to one inch with a hand bender. Experience with pulling wire, running conduit, and working with cable in commercial environments. Ability to safely perform lockout/tagout and isolate energized systems. Current certifications in Fall Protection, Working at Heights, WHMIS, CSTS, and Elevated Work Platform (AWP). Ability to work at heights and operate elevated lift platforms in accordance with safety standards. Reliable transportation to and from the job site. Capacity to work approximately 60 hours per week in alignment with site production requirements. Strong safety mindset with the ability to verify and maintain a zero-energy state before dismantling equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Boom and scissor lift ticket is an asset; willingness to obtain this certification as soon as possible if not already held. Experience working on demolition, decommissioning, or removal projects in commercial or industrial settings. Ability to read and follow electrical drawings, schematics, and site instructions related to disconnection and isolation. Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with site leadership and multidisciplinary teams. Work Environment This is a full-time, site-based role within a large commercial facility undergoing demolition of an e-commerce grocery grid. Standard hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, for 8 paid hours per day. As the project ramps up, there is a strong likelihood of overtime during the week and possible Saturday work, with an overall profile of approximately 60 hours per week aligned with site production. You will work around conveyors, sensors, cabling, safety devices, and other industrial equipment, using tools and technologies typical of commercial electrical and demolition support work, including elevated work platforms. The environment is safety-focused, with strict adherence to WHMIS, Working at Heights, Fall Protection, CSTS, and AWP requirements. Work is hands-on and physically active, involving time on your feet, working at heights, and handling conduit, cable, and electrical components in a busy construction and decommissioning setting. Clothing and footwear suitable for a commercial construction site, including appropriate PPE, will be required.
