Job DescriptionJob Description IT Specialist MacDonald Search Group has been asked by our high-tech design client to find a first-class IT Specialist to join their team in Kanata (Ottawa) in a hybrid model (4 days onsite). The primary responsibility of this role will be to manage core IT systems and helpdesk operations while driving modern Azure administration, cybersecurity practices, and organizational AI enablement. Some of what you will do in this role includes: Share ownership of IT helpdesk operations and hardware provisioning, ensuring timely support ticket resolution and seamless onboarding/offboarding experiences. Lead organizational AI enablement and deployment initiatives, including tool rollout, adoption support, agentic enablement, and responsible use practices. Administer and maintain the Azure and Microsoft 365 environment, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview, Sentinel, and Exchange Online. Apply security best practices across endpoints, identity systems (SSO/SCIM), and cloud infrastructure to align with compliance and cybersecurity requirements. Maintain cross-platform operating systems (Windows OS, Linux, macOS) and create clear, comprehensive technical documentation for IT processes and security logs. You should have the following in your background to apply: 5-7+ years of experience in an IT role, ideally within a mid-sized organization (50–250 employees). Hands-on expertise administering Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, alongside working knowledge of Linux systems (Ubuntu, Red Hat). Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and customer-service skills with fluent spoken and written English. Post-secondary education in computer science, information technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). Proven experience leading organizational AI deployment/adoption strategies and the ability to obtain Canadian/US government security clearance.
