Coventry University Kazakhstan is opening its doors in Almaty, and we are looking for an HR Specialist to join our growing team. Job Purpose: IT Specialist at the university will be responsible for installing or upgrading components, setting up software, assisting with network administration, and resolving all IT support issues. In this role, your duties will include ensuring optimal use of our hardware and software technologies, enhancing system performance, and securing data. You will also be required to advise on IT equipment upgrades. Main Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day IT support to staff, academic colleagues, and students where required. Respond to IT support requests and resolve hardware, software, system, and network-related issues in a timely manner. Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to computers, printers, scanners, projectors, classroom equipment, and other IT devices. Provide users with Microsoft Office, email, university systems, and other approved software platforms. Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Manager or relevant external service providers where necessary. Maintain a professional and service-oriented approach when supporting staff and users. Events and third-party usage Install, configure, and update software and hardware components. Set up new computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment for staff and university operations. Ensure that all installed software is properly licensed and complies with university policies. Monitor hardware, software, and system performance and report any issues to the IT Manager. Assist in maintaining an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment, software, and licences. As per HR request create, update, and deactivate user accounts in accordance with university procedures. Monitor access control for staff, students, and authorised users. Ensure that users have appropriate access to systems, platforms, and shared resources based on their role and responsibilities. Maintain confidentiality and security when handling user credentials and access rights. Report any access-related risks or irregularities to the IT Manager. Assist with network administration tasks under the supervision of the IT Manager. Support the day-to-day operation of the university’s computer network. Monitor basic network performance and report connectivity or system issues. Assist with resolving logged network and system errors in a timely manner. Support the maintenance of Wi-Fi, LAN connections, and classroom IT infrastructure where required. Support the safe and secure storage of university data. Assist in implementing IT security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats. Support data backup, archiving, and recovery procedures in line with university requirements. Document IT processes, technical procedures, and support actions where necessary. Promote safe computer usage and basic cyber security awareness among staff and users. Provide basic guidance and support to staff and users on the use of IT systems, hardware, and software. Train end-users on hardware functionality, approved software programmes, and basic IT procedures where required. Educate staff and users on network security, password safety, data protection, and best practices for computer usage. Support the smooth daily operation of the university’s IT systems and computer network. Liaise with the IT Manager and other departments regarding IT needs, technical requirements, and operational issues. Assist with IT arrangements for meetings, events, classes, and university activities where required. Keep track of technological developments and trends relevant to IT support. Contribute to improving IT support processes, service quality, and operational efficiency. Maintain confidentiality of university, staff, student, and IT-related information. Comply with internal IT policies, procedures, data protection requirements, and relevant legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of IT support requests, equipment, access rights, and technical actions. Follow health and safety requirements when installing, moving, or maintaining IT equipment.
