Senior / Intermediate Electrical (EIC) Designers
Welcome to Lauren
We’re not just delivering projects—we’re building them from first sketch to first spark.
Lauren Services is a full‑service EPCM firm supporting the Energy sector across feasibility, engineering, detailed design, construction, and operations. Our Calgary office brings together sharp technical minds, collaborative problem‑solvers, and people who genuinely care about doing good work—and doing it right.
We value quality over ego, clarity over chaos, and teams over silos. If you like smart conversations, well‑run projects, and designs you’re proud to put your name on—you’ll fit right in.
The Opportunity
We’re growing — and we’re looking for an Electrical & Controls (EIC) Designer who loves the details and understands the bigger picture.
Whether you’re a senior designer with years of project battle‑scars or an experienced intermediate ready to step up, this role puts you at the heart of real EPCM work—designing electrical and control systems that actually get built.
You’ll work on Oil & Gas and energy projects where strong EIC design matters, collaborating closely with engineers, PMs, clients, and fellow designers who know their stuff.
What You’ll Be Doing (aka: The Good Stuff)
You’ll take ownership of EIC design packages from concept through IFC, including:
Electrical & control system design and drafting
Cable tray layouts, power & lighting, grounding, and area layouts
Single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and I/O loop drawings
Control panel layouts, marshalling cabinets, PLC/DCS interfaces
3D modelling and coordinated layouts (AutoCAD / AutoCAD 3D)
Electrical load lists, cable schedules, equipment lists, BOMs
Design calculations (voltage drop, lighting levels, tray fill, heat trace)
Beyond drawings, you’ll:
Review scope and design quality with a critical, experienced eye
Coordinate across disciplines to keep designs clean and buildable
Catch issues early, ask good questions, and contribute solutions
Support quality control and help set the design bar for the team
What You Bring
We’re less interested in buzzwords and more interested in capability and mindset.
You likely have:
A Diploma in Electrical Design or Electrical Engineering Technology
Solid experience in electrical + controls design for industrial / energy projects
Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
Confidence using AutoCAD (3D experience is a big plus)
Experience with control systems, instrumentation, and interface points
The ability to manage multiple deliverables without things slipping
If you’re senior, you likely:
Mentor others naturally and raise design quality around you
Understand EPCM workflows and how design decisions impact construction
If you’re intermediate, you likely:
Take ownership of your work and want more responsibility
Are ready to stretch into more complex systems and coordination
Skills That Make You Stand Out
Strong understanding of control system architecture
Experience with PLC/DCS panels, control cabinets, marshalling
Organized, detail‑oriented, and calm under deadline pressure
Comfortable collaborating across engineering, drafting, and execution teams
Practical, solutions‑focused communicator
How We Work
Hybrid work model – flexibility without losing team connection
Supportive leadership and realistic project schedules
A culture where good ideas are welcome, regardless of title
Room to grow—technically, professionally, and long‑term
Why Lauren?
Because you want:
Projects that are technically interesting and well‑run
A team that respects design quality and field realities
