We are looking for an
Intermediate Accountant
to join our corporate team on a
part-time
basis. This is a hands-on role working under the direct supervision of our Director of Finance, giving you the opportunity to build your expertise in accounting for a multi-location, franchise-based business.
What You’ll Do
Manage
full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting
, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance
Take an active role in
accounts receivable management
, including invoicing, payment application, account reconciliations, aging reviews, collections, and follow-up on outstanding balances
Prepare for review
GST returns
and support other tax and regulatory reporting requirements
Process and review
payroll
, including payroll reconciliations, vacation pay, employee changes, and related payroll reporting
Prepare
monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules
for multiple entities and franchise locations
Perform
financial statement analysis
, identify trends and variances, and highlight items requiring management attention
Support the Director of Finance with
month-end and year-end close
, including reconciliations, accruals, adjusting entries, and working papers
Assist with budgeting, expense monitoring, and variance analysis
Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls
Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation for
year-end reviews and audits
Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes, reporting, and financial workflows as the organization continues to grow
What We’re Looking For
University degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance
3–6 years of progressive accounting experience
CPA designation, currently pursuing a CPA designation, or equivalent accounting qualification is considered an asset
Strong practical experience with accounts receivable, GST, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close
Experience preparing financial statements and management reports, with the ability to analyze results and identify unusual balances, trends, and variances
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and hands-on experience with accounting software; QuickBooks Online experience is an asset
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and well-supported financial records
Organized and able to manage multiple entities, deadlines, and competing priorities
Proactive and comfortable taking ownership of assigned responsibilities while knowing when to escalate issues
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing, entrepreneurial environment
Available to work
part-time
, with flexibility to work additional hours during the busy season from
January through April
, and the potential for the position to transition to
full-time
