Applicant Documents CV/Resume, Cover Letter, Name and contact information of recent supervisors willing to provide a reference Posted Date 18-Jun-2026 Closing Date 24-Jun-2026 Job Reference Duties Reporting to the Director, Strategic Planning and Initiatives, the incumbent leads the planning, management, and delivery of program quality assurance services for accredited academic degree programs at Vancouver Island University. The ideal candidate will be passionate about higher-education program quality and will thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment with competing demands. Responsible for ensuring the ongoing currency of degree programming at VIU, including the quality of learning outcomes, through the interpretation and application of Ministry criteria to the development of an internal program review framework. Contributes to the ongoing monitoring and enhancement of educational quality assurance policy and procedures. Provides guidance and advice to internal and external constituents in the realm of academic program quality assurance. Manages and facilitates the program review process at VIU and makes recommendations for improvement and/or enhancement to the process. Generates, analyzes, and synthesizes data to support the development of evaluative self-study reports using both institutional and survey data. Counsels Chairs on the development of their self-study reports. Reviews program review reports submitted by Chairs for errors, inconsistencies, and omissions and recommend revisions. Responsible for conducting gap analysis of VIU's accredited degree programs to ensure they meet internal quality assurance standards and requirements. Ensures ongoing compliance with Ministry and institutional requirements pertaining to educational quality assurance. Through various working groups, leads or contributes to the development of new institutional policies and procedures regarding academic integrity, course outlines, degree requirements, and micro-credentials. May serve as a voting member, non-voting member or resource on several internal and external committees and/or working groups. Develops annual submission to the Planning and Priorities Committee (P&P) of the rolling five-year schedule of programs up for review, as well as a report that summarizes the past year's program review activities, with recommendations for enhancement. Collects and extracts data, analyzes using statistical software such as SPSS and compiles a report for program/department Chairs. Works in collaboration with the Institutional Survey Officer with survey development for program review and quality assurance initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a research-intensive field such as Education, Statistics, or Social Sciences. Three-to-six years' recent experience in institutional analysis and planning, preferably in an educational setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated ability to lead program and institutional quality assessments. Current knowledge of academic program quality services. Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise mature judgement, diplomacy and discretion. Excellent project management, analytical reasoning, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills. Naturally inclined to take initiative, and problem-solve to help arrive at the solution. Effective communication skills: both written and oral and the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated critical-thinking skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to collect, extract, and analyze data. Significant experience with survey research, design, administration, and analysis using applications such as SPSS and Qualtrics. Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment. Ability to write, understand and apply policies and procedures. Experience with Microsoft 365 for business (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint) Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to set realistic goals and timelines and work independently to achieve them. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related field. Change Management Certification. Knowledge of Vancouver Island University, its structures, systems, policies, and values. Experience in a unionized post-secondary institution or publicly funded organization of similar size. Experience with Survey Monkey or similar platform.
