Job Description Summary
Relevant du chef d’équipe, Méthodes et outillage spécial, l’ingénieur en conception d’outillage participe à la conception d’outils d’installation, d’usinage, de démantèlement, de manutention et de levage. Il participe également à la conception d’outillage spécialisé lié à des projets majeurs récents ou en cours de soumission. Reporting to the Methods & Special Tooling Leader, the tooling design engineer is involved in the design of installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling and lifting tools. Participate in the design of specialized tools related to recent major projects or being submitted.
Roles and Responsibilities
Analyze the technical information (technical specifications, scope of work, division of work);
Responsible for the design of the site's special tooling for site assembly in accordance with site planning and budget considering the EHS aspect;
Plan the tooling design phase, follow-up and coordination with the project team;
Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure design is consistent with site installation methods;
Optimization of the tooling design or the machine to improve and reduce site installation time;
Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings;
Write reports and engineering documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals;
Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of the site teams;
Validate the costing of procedures & tooling during the tendering phase with other members of the Construction & Commissioning team;
Responsible of the deliverables and budgets for their projects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Minimum of 5 -10 years of relevant experience.
Civil or Structural Engineer considered.
Fluent in French and English (oral and written).
Must be authorized to work in Canada without restriction.
Ability to travel from time to time in North America.
Desired Characteristics
Knowledge of Safety Standards for Material Handling and Lifting Equipment (OSHA) B30.20 Below the hook.
Knowledge of welding and machining.
Team player.
Articulate, able to communicate effectively.
Experience in hydroelectricity field highly.
Knowledge and experience in mechanical design and the field of hydropower.
Knowledge of calculation methods related to material resistance, finite element simulation, metallurgy and welding are assets for this work.
Design 3D drawing (NX).
SmartSheet et Excel Intermediate knowledge.
