A growing food manufacturing organization is seeking a licensed Industrial Electrician to join its maintenance and engineering team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, electronic, and automation systems within a highly automated production facility.
The successful candidate will support production reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure the safe operation of electrical and control systems across food processing and packaging equipment. Responsibilities
Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic systems on industrial production equipment
Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and code specifications
Work on electrical components used in food processing and packaging equipment, including motors, sensors, servo drives, VFDs, conveyors, packaging systems, chillers, mixers, grinders, slicers, and batching systems
Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, ladder logic, electrical controls, and automated systems used on production lines
Support Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC-based automation systems
Perform root cause analysis to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
Inspect production equipment for wear, electrical issues, malfunction risks, and compliance with food safety standards
Complete preventative maintenance, corrective work orders, maintenance logs, and documentation in a computerized maintenance management system
Maintain and update the site ESA logbook
Ensure all electrical work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code, GMP, HACCP, ISO, food safety standards, and internal safety procedures
Follow lockout/tagout, arc flash, and plant safety procedures
Support continuous improvement, predictive maintenance, and equipment reliability initiatives
Communicate equipment issues, repair updates, and downtime concerns to maintenance, production, quality, sanitation, and other internal teams
Work with third-party vendors or contractors when required
Qualifications
Valid Industrial Electrician licence, 442A or 309A
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program
3–5 years of industrial or manufacturing electrician experience preferred
Strong knowledge of industrial automation, PLCs, sensors, control systems, motors, servo drives, and VFDs
Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLC experience considered a strong asset
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
Experience troubleshooting PLC ladder logic, HMIs, electrical controls, and automated production equipment
Familiarity with food manufacturing equipment such as conveyors, packaging systems, chillers, mixers, grinders, slicers, and batching systems
Food manufacturing experience considered a strong asset
Strong electrical and controls troubleshooting skills
Understanding of GMP, HACCP, ISO, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and workplace safety practices
