Job Title: Journeyman Electrician – Industrial
Job Description
This role focuses on industrial electrical construction and Instrumentation & Controls work across Western Canada, including facilities such as grain terminals, ports, mines, and manufacturing plants. You will install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and control systems that support critical industrial operations. The position is local and travel-based, with a mix of local and out-of-town projects in BC.
Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and test electrical systems and equipment in industrial environments.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications to complete installations accurately.
Plan daily work activities, prepare material lists, and support project scheduling to meet deadlines and productivity targets.
Complete QA/QC documentation, red-line drawings, and daily reports to maintain accurate project records.
Coordinate daily with forepersons, project managers, and other trades to ensure smooth execution of site work.
Train and mentor apprentices by providing guidance, feedback, and on-the-job instruction.
Follow and actively promote all company and site safety requirements and procedures.
Install, calibrate, and commission instrumentation and control systems in industrial and process environments.
Perform loop checks, calibrations, and system testing to verify proper operation of control systems.
Troubleshoot PLCs, sensors, transmitters, control valves, and automation systems to identify and resolve issues.
Interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and control schematics to support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
Support commissioning and startup of process and industrial systems, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all Instrumentation & Controls work performed.
Install and run conduit, bend conduit, and pull wire in accordance with industrial standards and codes.
Install and maintain cable tray systems and electrical distribution equipment, including high voltage where required.
Essential Skills
Valid Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician ticket.
5+ years of electrical experience with a mix of industrial and commercial work.
Strong Instrumentation & Controls experience in industrial or process environments.
Hands-on experience with calibration, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems and instrumentation.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, including electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, loop drawings, and control diagrams.
Demonstrated experience with industrial electrical work, including conduit installation, conduit bending, pulling wire, cable tray installation, and electrical distribution.
Experience with high voltage electrical systems in an industrial setting.
Valid driver’s license and reliable ability to travel to various project sites.
Willingness and ability to travel out of town for rotational assignments.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and site stakeholders.

Work Environment
The role is based on industrial construction and maintenance sites across Western Canada, with approximately a 50/50 split between local and out-of-town projects.
Local work currently includes projects such as grain port terminals, while out-of-town assignments include locations like Prince Rupert, BC, typically on a rotation of two weeks on and one week off with provided hotel accommodations and a living-out allowance.
Standard shifts are primarily daytime, with a first shift running from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and some schedules extending to 10-hour days ending around 5:00 p.m.
Overtime is frequently available, and you can expect a mix of indoor and outdoor work, often in active industrial facilities where adherence to site safety rules and appropriate work attire is required.
