Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: ILS Technical Lead - Naval Job Description The ILS Technical Lead - Naval role oversees Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities across multiple defense programs and proposals, with a focus on naval platforms. You will guide a technical team, collaborate closely with stakeholders and subcontractors, and ensure that supportability solutions align with customer requirements and industry standards. This position supports programs through design and build phases and continues into long-term sustainment and in-service support, playing a key role in shaping logistics strategies for complex combat and ship systems. Responsibilities Lead and oversee Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) deliverables across a variety of naval defense programs and proposals. Apply ILS knowledge and logistics support analysis techniques in accordance with relevant regulatory rules, regulations, and industry standards. Develop and review technical and engineering requirements, certification and compliance documents, engineering and technical specifications, and related documentation to ensure system capability requirements are properly implemented. Work closely with clients to formulate ILS requirements and specifications that meet program and operational needs. Develop comprehensive ILS plans tailored to specific program objectives and timelines. Produce and review reliability and availability analyses and calculations to support system design and sustainment decisions. Conduct trending analysis regarding system failures and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and maintainability. Perform technical studies and analyses such as FMECA, LSAR, LORA, reliability block diagrams (RBD), and related supportability assessments. Carry out Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis and prepare detailed reports to support maintenance planning and optimization. Conduct maintainability analyses to ensure systems can be efficiently serviced and sustained throughout their lifecycle. Perform spares analysis and prepare provisioning documentation to support supply chain and inventory management. Conduct end-of-life extension analysis and obsolescence analysis, and update obsolescence plans to manage aging components and technologies. Undertake special research or technical studies critical to ARM, RCM, maintenance, and logistic support functions. Perform life cycle cost analysis to support decision-making and optimize total ownership costs. Contribute to the development of various technical manuals and logistics documentation. Apply and interpret Logistics Support Analysis Requirements, including MIL-STD-1388-2B and GEIA-STD-0007, in the development of logistics products. Prepare clear and comprehensive reports on findings, results, and recommendations, and present briefings to internal and external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all corporate policies and procedures, including quality assurance and security procedures, in the performance of duties. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using tools such as DOORS, JIRA, Windchill, Confluence, and Microsoft Office to manage requirements, configuration, and project workflows. Contribute leadership, guidance, and mentorship within a team of logistics and engineering professionals to support project delivery. Essential Skills Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), with strong experience in defense or naval programs. Deep knowledge of integrated logistics support, logistics support analysis (LSA), and sustainment engineering principles. Experience with Integrated Product Support (IPS) and application of ILS methodologies to complex systems. Proficiency in conducting reliability and availability analyses, trending analysis of system failures, and maintainability assessments. Hands-on experience with FMECA, LSAR, LORA, reliability block diagrams (RBD), RCM analysis, spares analysis, and life cycle cost analysis. Familiarity with Logistics Support Analysis Requirements standards such as MIL-STD-1388-2B and GEIA-STD-0007. Ability to develop and review engineering requirements, technical specifications, certification, and compliance documentation. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and deliver effective briefings. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, analysis, and presentation. Familiarity with LSAR, RMA, and LSA software tools used in logistics and supportability analysis. Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach to working with engineers, clients, and subcontractors. Demonstrated leadership qualities and experience guiding teams, even without formal previous lead or management titles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. Familiarity with combat systems, including radars, combat management systems, communications, weapons, navigation, and electronic warfare (EW). Experience working with ship platforms such as the Halifax Class Frigate or similar naval vessels. Familiarity with Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) for requirements management. Experience using JIRA, Windchill, and Confluence for project tracking, configuration management, and collaboration. Agile Scrum Master and Product Owner experience, with an understanding of Agile methodologies in engineering and logistics environments. Detailed understanding of emerging technologies, standards, and software related to logistics products and service solutions. Experience with defense industry environments, including combat systems, radar, communication systems, navigation, and electronic warfare. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid, multi-site team and contribute to large-scale defense programs such as destroyer and frigate platforms. Work Environment This role operates in a hybrid work environment with approximately two in-office days per week, with flexibility on which days are spent on-site. Work can be based out of offices in Halifax (Dartmouth, NS), Montreal (Saint-Laurent, QC), or Ottawa (ON), supporting major Canadian naval defense programs. You will collaborate within a team of about 20 professionals, including first-line ILS leaders and technical leads, in a setting that emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and long-term project engagement. The environment makes extensive use of modern engineering and collaboration tools such as DOORS, JIRA, Windchill, Confluence, and standard Microsoft Office applications, and follows structured Agile practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ottawa, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
