Job DescriptionJob Description HVAC Mechanical Assembler Job Description The HVAC Mechanical Assembler works as part of a production team on an assembly line to build HVAC units from the ground up, following detailed assembly and fabrication drawings. You install, fasten, wire, and test components such as fans, coils, motors, sheet metal panels, and refrigeration parts, ensuring each unit meets strict safety, quality, and performance standards. The role focuses heavily on sheet metal assembly to construct the outer shell of the units and then the internal components, using a wide range of hand and power tools while maintaining a strong commitment to safe work practices. Responsibilities Assemble HVAC units, including air handlers, heat exchangers, ductwork, and refrigeration components from pre-fabricated metal parts. Build the sheet metal outer shell of HVAC units from the ground up and install internal components according to assembly drawings. Install and connect motors, compressors, fans, coils, valves, and electronic controls in line with fabrication and wiring diagrams. Ensure proper alignment, torque, and sealing of mechanical components to maintain performance and reliability. Use hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment to fasten, secure, and adjust parts safely and accurately. Perform basic wiring, including crimping and terminal connections, following standard electrical practices and diagrams. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to production schedules to meet output and quality targets. Ensure refrigerant and water piping systems are assembled and secured to be leak-free and compliant with specifications. Verify that assembled products comply with assembly and fabrication drawings and make adjustments as needed. Participate in cross-training opportunities, including brazing and other related duties as required by production needs. Handle materials and components safely, including lifting items up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks. Adhere to all safety and quality standards, including relevant occupational health and safety practices. Essential Skills At least 2 years of mechanical assembly experience. At least 2 years of experience in a relevant industry such as custom fabrication, machine building, or HVAC. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and follow assembly and fabrication drawings. Proven ability to perform precise assembly work requiring steady hands and attention to detail. Ability to perform basic wiring, including crimping and terminal connections. Comfort using hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment safely and effectively. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of regular job duties. Willingness to work at heights when required. Openness to working afternoon shifts and overtime as needed. Experience in environments beyond basic, highly repetitive assembly line work, with the ability to handle more complex, customized assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Relevant diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. HVAC certification from a recognized college or technical school. Brazing certification, such as TSSA or an equivalent credential. HVAC-related certifications, including brazing and soldering qualifications. WHMIS training and OSHA Occupational Health and Safety training or equivalent. Interest in cross-training in brazing and other specialized tasks to expand technical capabilities. Experience operating or working around cranes is an asset. Why Work Here? The building is shared with another company separated by a common wall, contributing to an active industrial environment. You use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment daily, and you may work at heights and handle components weighing up to 50 lbs. Shifts can include afternoon work and overtime, so flexibility is important. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and quality standards throughout all stages of assembly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Brampton, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
