Description and Position Summary:
The position of Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will commit to incorporate our mission, vision, and our values (Compassion, Collaboration, Respect, Social Justice, Integrity and Stewardship), and uphold our ethical traditions as foundational aspects in all actions and decision-making.
As a member of the Human Resources team, the HRBP is a confident, capable HR Practitioner who is comfortable working with a high degree of independence and autonomy. The HRBP will:
Model the organizations mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally

Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision and Values
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HRBP is responsible for advising, coaching, and supporting management in human resources and related operations, including; employee and labour relations issues, interpretation of various employment/legal documentation, creation and delivery of training/development material, attendance management, return to work matters, including Duty to Accommodate and leadership training.
The HRBP provides research and support for special projects undertaken by the Human Resources Department and participates in reviewing policy while establishing and fostering positive professional relationships and providing excellent customer service with both internal and external contacts.
The following duties, skills and abilities are required for this position:
Working with leaders/managers/supervisors on people management and performance
Advising on employee and labour relations, policies, and conflict resolution
Helping drive talent development, engagement, and retention
Leading in the talent acquisition and recruitment process
Supporting organizational growth and change management
Using people data to provide insights and recommendations
Ensuring compliance with employment standards, labour laws, organizational policies and procedures, including the Collective Agreements
Investigation, report writing and mediation skills
Discretion, diplomacy and tact
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and be extremely flexible in managing variable and unpredictable situations with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field, and 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Experience in healthcare is an asset, as is experience in a unionized environment
Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a current satisfactory driver’s abstract is required, as this role does involve travel between Covenant sites
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams is required
CPHR designation is an asset
