Position Summary:
We are seeking a Human Resources Administrator at Honey Electric Limited to manage and process payroll for our field and office employees. This position is offered as a fixed-term contract position with a duration of one year. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of payroll compliance, specifically in construction or trades industries, and experience with construction-related payroll systems.
General Accountability:
The incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring payroll and administrative Human Resources responsibilities are handled in a timely manner, with accuracy and confidentiality. This position requires the ability to work independently and prioritize duties to meet deadlines.
Reporting Relationship:
This position reports to the Manager of Human Resources. This position has no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Exude a people-first culture
Process weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees in a timely and accurate manner
Ensure compliance with relevant federal and provincial legislation (CRA, WSIB, ESA)
Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including hours, benefits, deductions, and vacation/sick time
Reconcile payroll related accounts and assist with year-end processes, including T4s and ROEs
Identify, analyze and resolve any payroll issues
Coordinate remittances for payroll taxes, benefits, and other withholdings
Assist with onboarding of new employees from a payroll perspective
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database with employee status changes, including personal details, tax information, and banking information
Support HR and accounting functions as needed
Remaining in compliance with legal, moral and ethical standards
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in the construction or skilled trades sector
A college diploma in either Human Resources or Business Administration
Must have strong computer skilled (Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum, BuildOps, and QuickBooks Online will be considered an asset
Knowledge of Ontario labour laws and CRA payroll regulations
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion
Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation or working towards it is a plus
