Job DescriptionJob Description A well-established construction and heavy equipment operation in the Rockland, Ontario area is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its Heavy Duty Division . This is a stable, long-term opportunity replacing a senior mechanic who is retiring. The role is a mix of shop-based and local field work , focused on keeping a modern fleet operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. All field work is local— no long-distance travel required . Schedule & Work-Life Balance Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM 44–46 hours per week Overtime paid after 44 hours Very rare weekend work (~1%) Strong emphasis on work-life balance Compensation & Benefits $38.00 – $45.00 per hour to start Overtime pay Full benefits package including: Extended health care, Dental care, Life insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Paid time off (PTO) Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment, including: Excavators, Articulated dump trucks (25–30 ton), Dozers, Loaders, Backhoes, Crushers, screeners, conveyors, Rollers and compactors Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues Maintain accurate service and maintenance records Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues Follow all safety protocols and industry standards Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (construction, fleet, dealership, or industrial background preferred) Heavy Equipment Mechanic license not required Strong mechanical aptitude with diesel-powered equipment Experience with Caterpillar and/or John Deere equipment is an asset Ability to work independently and as part of a team Safety-focused with strong attention to detail Why This Role?
