Heavy Equipment Operator - Project Term
Located in the North Thompson valley, at Simpcw Resources Group we provide environmental, management, and operational services while preserving Simpcw culture and heritage with respect towards the environment. Our goals include creating economic growth from the commercial development of natural resources within the Simpcwlecw (Simpcw Territory) by being the major contractor and competing for work in both the public and private sectors.
Current Opportunities:
Simpcw Resources LLP is growing rapidly and looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Pipeline Maintenance team. The Heavy Equipment Operator will report to the Foreman and perform work outside in all weather conditions. The ideal operator will be able to use a dozer, excavator, grader, or other heavy equipment.
This is a project-term opportunity starting June 2026, with an estimated completion date of October 31, 2026.
Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment including and not limited to:
Excavate operating oil/or gas utilities (hotline work)
Clear Right of Way
Site preparation
Locating underground utilities
General pipeline construction activities
Site clean- up and restoration
Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment.
Secure special attachments to equipment.
Ensure safe work operations of the equipment and full compliance to operating procedures.
Other tasks, duties and requirements as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous pipeline construction or maintenance experience in an operator capacity and proven competency in excavation of operating utilities (hotline)
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment
Ability to identify safety risks and hazards and comply with relevant safety procedures and regulations.
Physically able to perform manual labour outdoors
Physically able to handle and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds
Experience operating and excavator on pipeline related work is required
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate
Ground Disturbance - Level II program an asset
