As our company continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The Role As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a key role in site preparation and project execution. You will operate excavators and skid steers to support a variety of construction projects, working closely with a skilled crew that values teamwork, efficiency, and quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work Daily Start-Up & Safety - Clock in at the yard when operating a company work truck - Complete pre-trip inspections for work trucks - Perform daily inspections on assigned equipment - Participate in FLHA / toolbox safety meetings and complete required safety documentation - Typical start time: 6:45 a.m. 7:00 a.m. Job Site Operations - Safely and efficiently operate compact excavators and skid steers (Bobcat-style equipment) - Slab-on-grade preparation, including accurate grading and backfilling around infrastructure - Excavation and earthmoving in tight or constrained job sites - Shotcrete removal for envelope tie-ins and repair work - Anchor removal and detention - Snow removal and salting during winter months - Work collaboratively with crew members and site supervisors Documentation & Communication - Upload job-site photos to JobTread with detailed descriptions - Communicate progress, issues, or delays to supervisors Equipment Maintenance - Fuel and grease machines daily - Grease work truck weekly - Report maintenance or mechanical issues promptly End-of-Day & Administrative Tasks - Complete daily slips signed by supervisor - Review upcoming work and confirm requirements - Upload Visa receipts into Dext Equipment Focus We primarily use compact Bobcat and smaller-sized equipment for versatility, precision, and minimal site disruption across urban and large-scale job sites. Qualifications & Requirements - Minimum 3 years experience operating excavators and skid steers - Minimum 3 years construction experience - Valid Class 5 drivers licence (air brakes an asset) - Strong work ethic and positive attitude - Ability to work throughout the Lower Mainland - Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends - On-site training may be considered for the right candidate (Note: Forklift certification alone does not qualify.)
