You’re a patient, empathetic team player who pays attention to the details. A key member of the healthcare team, Health Care Aides (HCAs) help enhance the patient experience as you work within an interdisciplinary team environment, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patient/clients. Working as an HCA, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct client care. Whether it’s aiding with activities of daily living, administering treatments, performing nursing tasks or other activities, you’ll make a difference every day. The Town of Wainwright, rated one of the most affordable communities twice in past Alberta-wide surveys, is a peaceful prairie home to about 6,200 people. The community and area, known for being home to the Canadian Forces Base Wainwright and their excellent hunting locations, offer a unique country lifestyle with urban amenities all within a two-hour drive from Edmonton. Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) provides Albertans with the support they need through a comprehensive assisted living system that offers a full range of services, including medical and non-medical supports, continuing care homes, home care, community care, and social services. ALA is focused on delivering care more effectively and consistently across the province by enhancing home and community services, expediting access to supportive living environments and continuing care homes, and ensuring Albertans and their caregivers are well-informed.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.
