What You’ll Lead Safety Program Leadership — Conduct audits, lead investigations, and implement meaningful corrective actions. Risk Assessment Excellence — Identify hazards, evaluate risks, and apply the Hierarchy of Controls to drive real improvements. Training & Engagement — Deliver training that resonates, motivates, and builds a proactive safety culture. Cross‑Functional Partnership — Work closely with associates and leadership to embed safety into daily operations. Emergency Response Support — Assist with onsite emergencies and ensure preparedness across the facility. This is a hands‑on, high‑visibility role where your influence will be felt daily. What You Bring Must‑Haves Strong knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations Experience conducting risk assessments Understanding of the Hierarchy of Controls High school diploma or equivalent 1+ year in an EHS‑related role or a relevant Bachelor’s degree Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Nice‑to‑Haves Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field Experience leading teams or safety initiatives First Aid/CPR/AED certification Experience with workers’ compensation case management Strong communication, coaching, and analytical skills Physical & Environmental Expectations Lift up to 49 lbs; frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling Stand/walk for up to 12 hours Work in variable temperatures, noise levels, and outdoor conditions Regular stair climbing Flexible schedule including nights and weekends First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within 3 weeks of start Work Environment Location: Barrhaven, ON (Sortation Facility) Schedules: Sun–Wed, 7 PM–5 AM Wed–Sat, 7 PM–5 AM Occasional overtime; potential for holiday work What’s In It for You Opportunity for contract extension or permanent conversion A role with real purpose and visible impact A collaborative environment where safety is a shared mission Growth potential in a high‑demand field Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON.
