THE OPPORTUNITY
The Head of Technology will lead Ayrton's core technology team, the group responsible for e-LOHC chemistry, materials, and system development. This is a hands-on leadership role at a company where the technology is the product.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Technology will be responsible for: leading and growing the tech team; driving the technology roadmap from current TRL through pilot and commercial scale; owning IP development and protection strategy; and supporting investor and customer technical diligence through the Series A and beyond.
The tech team sits alongside a Director of Engineering (stack and systems) and a Director of Operations (manufacturing and operations). The Head of Technology will be required to collaborate closely across all three functions as the company moves from development into deployment.
AYRTON ENERGY OVERVIEW
Ayrton Energy is a Calgary-based clean technology company developing innovative solutions to enable the widespread adoption of hydrogen as a global energy carrier. The company is focused on addressing one of the most significant barriers in the energy transition: the safe, cost-effective storage and transportation of hydrogen at scale.
At the core of Ayrton’s approach is its proprietary
electrified Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (e-LOHC) technology
, which allows hydrogen to be stored as a stable liquid at ambient temperature and pressure. This eliminates the need for high-pressure tanks, cryogenic cooling, and specialized infrastructure, enabling hydrogen to be transported and handled similarly to conventional fuels such as diesel.
By leveraging existing fuel infrastructure, Ayrton’s technology provides a practical and scalable pathway to connect hydrogen production with end users across industrial, transportation, and logistics sectors. Its solutions are designed to integrate seamlessly into current energy systems, reducing costs and accelerating deployment while supporting decarbonization efforts globally.
Founded on a commitment to innovation and sustainability, and inspired by pioneering scientist Hertha Ayrton, the company combines expertise in chemistry, engineering, and energy systems to develop commercially viable clean energy solutions. Ayrton is advancing its technology through pilot projects, strategic partnerships, and ongoing commercialization efforts aimed at enabling a more flexible, efficient, and accessible hydrogen economy.
As a rapidly growing cleantech venture, Ayrton Energy is positioning itself as a key enabler of hydrogen adoption—building the infrastructure solutions required to unlock hydrogen’s full potential in the global transition to low-carbon energy systems.
