Liberty Horizons is a financial consulting and venture capital practice based in Toronto, Canada. We build and manage accounting and finance operations for founder‑led startups and small businesses, handling everything from fractional CFO services and bookkeeping to AR/AP, payroll, and venture consulting.
We are a small team with high standards. That means real ownership, real exposure, and real growth opportunities for the right person. If you want to own a function, work directly alongside senior leadership, and build something that matters to the businesses you serve, this is the right environment for you.
About the Role
We have the strategy, the cast, and the story. What we are missing is the quarterback: one person who owns execution end to end so everyone else can stay in their lane.
The Head of Marketing is the single point of accountability for the marketing machine across both Liberty Horizons and The Wise Investor. You will run the full cycle: plan, film, edit, ship, and review, across two brands, two audiences, and multiple formats. You will coordinate three functions: community, events and PR; content creation and distribution; and performance and paid media. You will also be one of the faces of this brand. Comfort on camera is a requirement.
This role is perfect for a marketing professional who is obsessed with their craft, loves their work and is passionate about growing faster than a classic 9‑5 corporate role. This is not a coordinator role. This is not a task list. You own the function, the output, and the number: 100,000 weekly reach on a brand that has a story to tell.
What the First 90 Days Look LikeDays 1 to 30: Learn and Orient
Fully understand the brand, the audience, tone, and content history
Audit the existing content calendar, production workflow, and distribution cadence
Map all active platforms, tools, and team members involved in content production
Shadow the founder and brand strategist on current shoots and planning sessions
Complete all mandatory onboarding training
Days 31 to 60: Contribute Independently
Own the weekly content calendar across both brands, at least two weeks ahead at all times
Run your first full production cycle independently: plan, shoot, edit, and publish
Identify at least one structural gap in the current workflow and bring a specific, actionable proposal
Establish clear communication rhythms with the founder, art director, and any external agency partners, creators or editors
Days 61 to 90: Own It
The weekly rhythm is fully operational with no missed shoot days and no gaps in the calendar
Weekly reach is trending toward 100,000 across channels
You are on camera, storytelling and performing as one of the brand's recognised faces
A documented development focus for the next quarter is agreed with your manager
ResponsibilitiesProject Management and Production Operations
Run the weekly content rhythm: plan, film, edit, ship, and review, every week across both brands
Maintain a content calendar that is always at least two weeks ahead
Own shot lists, shoot schedules, and talent coordination, with a minimum of two people on every shoot
Run the weekly 80/20 performance review: double down on what works, cut what does not
Manage the 70/20/10 content mix: reach content, story/culture content, and offers
Team and Agency Management
Coordinate three content functions: community, events and PR (including the podcast); content creation and distribution; and performance and paid media
Source, onboard, and manage editors, creators, and paid media support as the team scales
Act as the connective tissue between the founder, brand strategist, art director, and on‑camera talent
Ensure every person involved in production knows what they own, when it is due, and what the standard is
Content Strategy and Positioning
Own the strategic brand development and content mix across Instagram, the podcast, and any additional platforms
Translate complex financial topics into content that is accessible, credible, and shareable for a GenZ and millennial founder audience
Identify content opportunities tied to market moments, founder activity, and audience signals
Maintain brand consistency across Liberty Horizons and The Wise Investor (the founder’s personal brand) without flattening the distinction between them
Develop mini stories across internal team members, building out loud storyline, and other mini series developed to tell the brand story
On‑Camera and Storytelling Creator
Appear on camera as one of the recognizable faces of the brand across short‑form and long‑form content
Brief and direct other on‑camera talent to ensure delivery matches the brand standard
Contribute to the development of recurring content formats and series
Reporting and Performance
Report weekly on reach and impressions as the primary metrics, followed by engagement, follower growth, and booked calls
Use performance data to inform content decisions, not just document them
Bring a point of view to every weekly review, not just a summary
What an A‑Player Looks Like in This Role
Output quality: Content ships on time, on brand, and at a standard you would put your name on permanently
Ownership: If it goes out the door, you made it happen. If something goes wrong, you surface it immediately and come with a fix
Project management: The calendar is never empty, the shoot is never missed, and the team always knows what is happening next
On‑camera presence and Storytelling: You are confident, natural, and credible in front of a lens without direction; you are an excellent storyteller
Financial services fluency: You understand the audience well enough to make complex topics feel simple and relevant
Strategic thinking: You know the difference between content that performs and content that builds a brand, and you pursue both
Team leadership: You make the people around you better and more organised by being in the room
Values: You do the right thing when no one is watching
