Head of Data Engineering & Technology ⚠️ Before you apply — please read carefully This role is for you if you have: Designed and scaled enterprise-grade data platforms Led multiple engineering teams at the same time Owned architectural decisions at an organizational level Partnered with C-level stakeholders on data strategy About the Role You will own the definition, design, and implementation of the target data platform across the ecosystem — from assessing the current landscape to leading its phased delivery. Location: Azerbaijan (relocation) What You Will Do Architecture & Strategy Own the end-to-end data platform architecture — current-state assessment, target-state definition, selection of the right architectural model (layered architecture, federated model, or data mesh), and execution of the phased roadmap Define and enforce data engineering and architecture standards to ensure scalability, reliability, and long-term sustainability across all business domains Represent the data architecture domain within the Enterprise Architecture Committee Lead all major platform technology decisions — vendor evaluation, selection, and long-term partnership strategy Platform & Integration Ensure secure and scalable cross-domain data integration to enable ecosystem-level use cases including Customer 360 and Merchant 360 Build a strong working partnership with the Data & AI Ops team across deployment, monitoring, incident management, and lifecycle governance of data pipelines People & Teams Lead multiple established data engineering teams operating across different platforms, standards, and delivery models Drive their alignment into a single coherent engineering function at ecosystem scale Define team structure, capability model, and performance expectations What We Are Looking For 10+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or large-scale system architecture 7+ years leading and developing engineering teams Proven track record designing data platforms — DWH, Data Lake, Lakehouse — on-premise or cloud Hands-on experience across data warehouse, lake, lakehouse, APIs, and data infrastructure Strong ability to manage stakeholders across both executive and technical audiences Languages Required: Russian Plus one of: Azerbaijani or English
