Responsibilities
Provide leadership for Fednav’s Arctic business with full accountability for P&L, strategy, governance, and long‑term value creation across Arctic shipping programs, ice‑breaking services, and project‑based operations.
Define and lead the execution of the Arctic business strategy, translating corporate objectives into multi‑year plans, investment priorities, and growth initiatives.
Act as Fednav’s representative for key Arctic clients, governments, regulators, and strategic partners, building trusted, long‑term relationships that support business growth and continuity.
Provide oversight of major Arctic client programs and commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with client objectives and contractual commitments.
Participate in government, regulatory, and Indigenous engagement, supporting responsible operations, long‑term partnerships, and Fednav’s social license to operate.
Establish and oversee Fednav’s Arctic governance and risk framework, proactively managing regulatory, reputational, environmental, operational, and financial risks impacting Arctic activities.
Influence strategic decisions related to ice‑breaking assets, partnerships, technologies, and service models, supporting safe, resilient, and sustainable Arctic operations.
Drive the leadership and governance of Arctic Operations and Ice Services by fostering a high‑performing team environment through mentorship, supervision, and continuous support, including regular performance assessment and the implementation of development and training initiatives to strengthen capabilities and engagement.
Qualifications
Extensive experience in Canadian Arctic operations and complex maritime environments; international exposure in different Arctic countries is a strong asset.
Demonstrated accountability for business performance and P&L management within capital intensive or project‑driven operations.
Proven ability to build trusted, long‑term relationships with major clients, governments, regulators, and Indigenous or northern communities.
Strategic orientation with the ability to balance commercial objectives, regulatory obligations, and social responsibility.
Experience leading projects and multidisciplinary teams in high‑risk, highly regulated environments.
High level of communication, influence, and negotiation skills.
Fluency in English is required to interact with clients, government and local communities.
