Hardware Engineering Manager
We are seeking a Hardware Engineering Manager with at least 10 years of experience in hardware design of consumer products. The role requires a self‑starter who can drive advanced engineering projects, resolve technical issues, and work with internal teams and external design partners.
Responsibilities
Drive architecture design, working with component vendors, design partners (ODM), and internal engineering resources.
Create product‑level technical specifications (performance, function) for design partners.
Review hardware design (schematics, PCB layout) in detail.
Review design partner’s hardware engineering validation plans and test results, provide feedback.
Drive creation of internal hardware engineering validation plans, drive test execution, review results.
Drive resolution of issues in a timely manner, digging into details as far as necessary.
Review ODM factory test plans, test results, and participate in yield improvement efforts during product ramp.
Visit ODM factory overseas as needed.
Work with other internal teams such as Mechanical Design, Firmware, and others during architecture phase and later on to ensure proper project execution.
Oversee the work of internal Hardware Engineers; some may be direct reports, some dotted‑line reports. Train and mentorship team members.
Position is on‑site (non‑remote).
International travel required.
Required Qualifications
Strong electrical engineering design experience, spanning power supply and battery circuits, microcontroller designs, audio, design for EMI. At least 3 years of hands‑on design/architecture work in the last 5 years.
Must have released numerous products to mass production, including some battery‑powered wireless products.
Proficient at document/specification writing, technical analysis and simulation, test planning, and task planning.
Proficient at reviewing schematics and PCB layouts, providing feedback to designers.
BS in EE minimum, MS a plus.
Additional Experiences (a plus)
Camera design, audio design, fluency in Mandarin.
