Pay Level CUPE 2: $24.50 per hour Appointment Start Date 01-Sep-2026 Applicant Documents CV/Resume, Cover Letter, Name and contact information of recent supervisors willing to provide a reference Posted Date 09-Jul-2026 Closing Date 22-Jul-2026 Job Reference Duties Reporting to the Manager of Athletics and Recreation, the Gymnasium Assistant provides customer service and support for programs and events in the VIU Gymnasium. Responsibilities include: Provide a welcoming, positive customer service experience for VIU students, staff and the public; Support facility/event set up, take down and user group transitions; Provide information on VIU gymnasium, programs, services and memberships; Open or close the facility; General organization and daily cleaning of fitness equipment. Required Qualifications Grade 12 plus a minimum of 6 college credits and 6 months of recent related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated knowledge of sports and fitness equipment. Ability to interact effectively with students, staff and community members. Physical ability to complete cleaning tasks and to move equipment such as bleachers.
