HireLoft Recruitment is working with a fast-growing, multi-entity organization on a confidential search for a Group Financial Controller. This is a technically demanding, high-visibility role sitting at the centre of the group's financial reporting function, reporting directly to the VP Finance.
This is not a generalist finance role and it is not a people management role. We are looking for a technically sharp, self-driven CPA who can pick up the mandate and run with it independently from day one. If you get excited about solving complex accounting problems, maximizing consolidation systems, and building the financial infrastructure of a company preparing for a public listing, this role was built for you.
About the Organization
A well-capitalized and rapidly growing company operating across 30+ entities and multiple business verticals. The organization is executing an active acquisition strategy and is building toward a future public listing. The finance team is approximately 25 people strong and continuing to grow as the business scales.
What You Will Be Doing
Financial Reporting and Consolidation
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation across 30+ legal entities under IFRS
Own intercompany eliminations, reconciliations, and consolidation adjustments
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of IFRS-compliant consolidated financial statements
Continuously improve close processes, reduce timelines, and drive automation
Technical Accounting
Act as the internal IFRS subject matter expert across complex areas including:
IFRS 3 business combinations and purchase price allocations
IFRS 16 lease accounting
Share option valuations and amortization
Revenue recognition
Develop and maintain accounting policy notes and financial statement disclosures
Prepare and maintain audit-ready working papers
IPO and Capital Markets Readiness
Support development of public-company-ready financial reporting standards, policies, and documentation
Assist in building the foundation for future public filings including MD&A and consolidated financial statements
Manage and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting in preparation for public market standards
Support SEDAR filing requirements and regulatory compliance as the organization moves toward a public listing
Audit and External Stakeholders
Own the full external audit process from planning through to completion
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants
M&A Integration
Support financial integration of newly acquired businesses including opening balance sheet alignment and accounting policy harmonization
Lead integration of acquired entities into consolidation systems and reporting frameworks
Standardize accounting policies across acquired entities
Systems and Technology
Primary consolidation and FP&A tool: Vena, linking Microsoft D365 Business Central and Sage Intacct
Ability to maximize Vena and unlock additional reporting capabilities beyond consolidation is a significant asset
Comfort with data, minor SQL, or coding logic is a plus
Who We Are Looking For
Big 4 public accounting background (strongly preferred)
8 to 12+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting and consolidation
Deep technical knowledge of IFRS across complex accounting areas
Proven experience managing group-level multi-entity consolidations
IPO readiness, SEDAR filing experience, or public company reporting background is a major differentiator
Experience in a high-growth, acquisitive, or private equity-backed environment is a strong asset
Hands-on experience with consolidation tools such as Vena, HFM, or similar platforms
Self-motivated, independent, and confident operating without direct oversight
Someone who gets genuinely excited about systems, technical problems, and building things the right way
What Is In It For You
Base salary of $140,000 to $160,000 depending on experience
Performance bonus of up to 20%
High-visibility role reporting directly to VP Finance with exposure to executive leadership
Active involvement in M&A execution and integration
Direct exposure to IPO preparation and a real capital markets journey
Opportunity to build and scale a best-in-class group finance function
This role is ideal for someone who wants to own something meaningful, go deep in their area of expertise, and be the go-to person for everything related to group financial reporting and compliance.
